ABC TV Programming Is Lousy At What They Do

ABC TV Programming, why are you trying to kill yourself. and us viewers in the process? Do you not like us? Do you not like the people who have given their time and effort into turning on your miserable little network?

I just don't get it. I mean, do you not feel the pressure coming on from sources such as cable television and satellite TV that are trying their very best to squash networks like you out? Or do you just not care? Or are all you all a bunch of old timers, sitting on your fat butts, waiting for your pensions to roll in?

I remember when you all at ABC TV Programming were brave and strong, trying new things all the time. Now, the CW is looking you in the face, Fox has surpassed past few in the ratings war. You cling on to the victories of the past, and those are very quickly fading away. "Desperate Housewives" will be gone soon, and after that, what do you really have?

What ABC TV Programming Has Graced Us With This Year...

ABC TV Programming, a question: Did you really think that "Pan Am" was going to be a hit? Everybody and their mom knew that it was a cheap ripoff of "Mad Men." and the funny thing, it wouldn't have mattered since "Mad Men" has been off the air for over a year, and a void was there that ABC TV Programming could have taken advantage of in a unique manner.

But it was a idea that was dated before it started. Packaging the glamor of flight in today's age is like packaging the wonders of cross-country travel in a bus. They're both held on the same level of regard, and they're both about as exciting in the days, with the exception that the TSA isn't screening people boarding Greyhounds. At least not yet. In any case, "Pan Am" was a bad idea based on mix of "Mad Men" and Spielberg's "Catch Me If You Can", both of which passed their popularity a long time ago. Thanks, ABC TV Programming for the originality!

And then there's ABC TV Programming idea to bring back "Charlie's Angels", a show that pretty much crashed and burned the minute that it landed. It was a joke in the 70s, the movies made even more of joke in the 90s, so how much credence would the audience give a TV show? The answer was obvious before it even started: not very much. Dead on arrival.

Another ABC TV Programming coup was "Work It." The show about two guys that decided to dress as women in order to gain employment. And not only women, really ugly women. I mean seriously really ugly women. It premiered on January 3, and was canceled by January 13. For some reason, there are people at ABC TV Programming that think people want to see British style comedies. Well, we don't. We are Americans. Call it what you will, but the bottom-line is we don't want to see it. "Work It" was basically dead on arrival.

Then there was ABC TV Programming's co "Man Up". Lasted about eight weeks. Actually was kind of funny, but the idea was old hat, much like a lot of ABC TV Programming's after about eight weeks, the switch was pulled.

So after you remove the dead bodies in the streets, you have the following scripted show that are locks in the ABC TV Programming line up...

Modern Family
Grey's Anatomy
Once Upon A Time
Happy Endings
The Middle
Suburgatory.

As of this writing, ABC's new show, "The River" has been on for about a month but hasn't been doing that well in the ratings. More than likely, it will be off the air with the next month or so. Probably the worst than about what ABC TV Programming is done why is in one of its best shows over the last three years, "Cougar Town". I'm a big fan of that show, as are a lot of people, so of course ABC has done its very best to sabotage the show by keeping it off the air for over a year, then expecting people to automatically pick up on a new night and new time, with one of the worst comedies on the air, "Last Man Standing" as its lead in.

ABC TV Programming's ridiculous pairing of these two shows is like matching up oil and water. Two totally different shows, two totally different audiences. Of course this leader will not work, and considering ABC TV Programming has reduced the "Cougar Town" schedule to accommodate the horrible launch of work it, as well as other shows that crashed this year, it's very sad to say "Cougar Town" will probably be canceled this year, unless the rating get better, or ABC TV Programming realizes that they haven't done enough to promote the show in its return. It's a very sad situation overall.

ABC TV Programming has much potential in some of the shows in their schedule, but they seem hell-bent on destroying shows that order established to test absolute dreck. ABC TV Programming should have dropped at least three good hits this year, but instead it looks like it's going to be yet another diary here for a network that is currently in fourth place. And they're going to stay there for a while unless they get their act together and start programming smarter.

It's one thing to lose out to a network because of special event's. It's another thing to lose out to a network because they have American Idol. I'm just saying. Way to go, ABC TV Programming.
